Glad Bham is starting to get the recognition it deserves. Some really good things happening there right now.

And I will be making a trip to Asheville sooner than later. Can't wait. Seems like an awesome place with some great breweries and restaurants.

Oakland has some cool pockets springing up. People that cant afford SF are living there....i.e. artists, musicians...it will keep getting better.

Since it is at #4, does that mean the hype for the past 10 years was just that, hype?

No meridian?????

I'll have you know they are working on the outside of the Arby's on the North Frontage road. Should be finished in a month.

I don't know anything about the hype the last 10 years. I just want to go on a beer vacation there.

No lie, they have an area called the gourmet ghetto. Some great eating over there.

In the last five or so years I've eaten at 1,4,5,7,8,9,10

I'd put Austin above San Antonio unless they already consider it came.

Out of all I've been to I would go with Minneapolis/St Paul. Just a phenomenal food city and getting better.

Not a bad list. Lot of BR people live in Asheville and in a decade that just might include me. Great place.

There are over 2.5 million diverse people in Alameda and Contra Costa counties alone. If you add in San Francisco, Marin, San Mateo and Solano counties you are talking about almost 5 million people within about an hour's driving distance. You would hope there would be some good restaurants given the population, cultural diversity and economic prosperity.
