Your Rule of Thumb for Dining Out

Mine:
Unless it's a burger joint, if a restaurant's tables are automatically equipped with a bottle of ketchup then chances are that the upcoming meal will not be of the highest quality.

Your Rule of Thumb for Dining Out
Don't eat with anyone named Steve from St. Amant unless you want to have an utterly miserable experience

Been to plenty of neighborhood seafood joints and had great meals. Unsurprisingly, ketchup is almost always present.
I think your rule needs more exceptions.

I almost thought about including seafood establishments that specialize in fried seafood. However, I can't recall the last time I ever needed to add ketchup to any fried seafood.

Wait what?
How else would I mix up a cocktail sauce for a dozen raw?
Like others have said, most casual good seafood joints have ketchup on the table.

Nor do I (though I love cocktail, which is like 65% ketchup), but that doesn't take away from the fact that it is usually on the table in these places.

If the waitress is pregnant I need to stop eating in Livingston Parish.

Mine:
Don't judge a restaurant by what condiments are on the table.
Seriously though, my first time at a restaurant, I like to order basic items. Let's see if they can do the basics well.

This board has strange views on food and dining I've found. I assumed most here were from Louisiana, not Paris.

I agree. I would eat dinner with maybe 10% of the posters on here. Buncha old senile frick food snobs

If the food menu is more than 3 pages, odds are that I won't like the place.

Here's mine:
If the restaurant obviously spent a lot of time and effort on a well procured wine and cocktail list, yet their beer list looks like something from a college frat party, I won't eat there again.

So most fine dining restaurants?

Does it piss you off when I order a beer at a fine dining place?

But why not?
If your food is well-seasoned and tasty then condiments should only be available on standby by request.
It doesn't convey confidence on the part of the management if there are so many condiments situated at the table.

I put hot sauce on damn near every meal I eat with the exception being steak, so I appreciate having it in front of me at the table

The ones worth a damn have figured out that there's more to beer than shitty light lagers.

If you don't mind me asking, what brand do you prefer?
