This is crazy. Just last night I was eating some food with Sriracha and mentioned to my wife that I wondered if they had a Sriracha flavored beer. I was going to do a search online and got sidetracked and forgot about it until just now when I came across an article about it on facebook. Not sure how it would be but I will definitely give it a try.

Pepper stout isn't something new. I'm sure Rogue went overboard as usual.

The closest thing I have tried to a pepper stout is Prairie Bomb which has a touch of Ancho and is one of my favorite beers. I am not sure I have ever had anything by Rogue. How do they over do it?

I'd try it but I wouldn't buy it until after I sampled pretty sure I wouldn't like it if it is really hoppy.

It's a stout so it won't be hoppy. We still need to grab a beer sometime.

I had it in my hand today at World Market but didn't purchase it. Thought I'd do a search here on the board before I put up a topic asking how it was and this thread came up. It seemed a bit pricey.

Anyone try it? How's the heat level? If no one has tried it, I might offer to drop the $12 and be the Food Board's guinea pig.

Cool labeling...

The owner of one of my local bottle shops was really trying to push it on me as being rare and sought after. I told him that didn't make up for the fact that it sounds fricking disgusting. And like another poster said, Rogue is known for putting out shitty "extreme" beers. I first had the Voodoo Bacon Doughnut monstrosity like 5 years ago and it was complete shite. Haven't bought many Rogue beers since.

If you've never had one I'd say it's worth a try. In my opinion peppered beers just novel and not good.

I had the worst rogue specialty beer ever a couple of months ago. The wife wanted to try it because it had some donuts or some shite on it. Won't be picking up another.

Rogue put out a Chipotle beer a couple of years back. I found it on sale for cheap and bought a few.

That's the reason I haven't wasted my money on the red bottle.

I've had a few green chili beers and a spicy beer ain't my thang. And Lakewood has a Mole Stout that is great on draft but is too spicy and too much cinnamon in the bottle version.

My next-door neighbor gave me a bottle as a gift. I wouldn't have purchased it otherwise. It was OK, had a sriracha aftertaste that wasn't too overpowering. I wouldn't drink it again. It was better than a ghost pepper beer I had at the Bulldog a couple of years ago...that ripped the top of my head off. And it was better than that shitty Voodoo Doughnut beer Rogue did. Of course, that's damning with faint praise

I'd try it except for the $14 price tag. That's too high considering Rogue has a dubious record with these off the wall beers.

I love peppers and chilies in my beer (Sculpin's Habanero Sculpin, Bent River Jalapeño Pepper ale, Rogue Chipotle Ale). I think they are great when paired with tacos and other spicy foods. That said, I wouldn't have high hopes for the beer. Hats off to them for a great marketing and bottling technique though.

Would try it, would not buy it.

Other than maybe the Mocha Porter, I can't think of a single Rogue beer worth the money.

I drank a bottle of it a couple months ago, sometime around the beginning of March. It was one of the better Rogue beers. They seem to do a decent job with their stouts. I actually thought it could have used a touch more Sriracha in it. It certainly wasn't worth what it cost, but it wasn't offputting like many Rogue beers.
