I recently got an old smoker and have not used one before. Can some folks recommend some good woods for smoking, say a turkey breast? Where do you get said woods her in BR?

Pecan is good as well.

A lot of it comes pre-packaged already from certain stores. Try Home Depot or some place like that, as I'm not familiar with shite around BR.

I have heard this from several people. Now a matter of where to find cured apple wood.

Apple is good.
Hickory is traditional.
I hate mesquite. I find the smoke to be bitter.

You can get apple chips at places like Whole Foods.

You can get Jack Dnaiels-soaked oak chips here made from Jack Daniels barrels. AMAZING smell while the meat is smoking. I think these are sold nationwide now..give it a try. Adds a very distinctive flavor to your meat.

All the recomendations are good so far except for mesquite. Mesquite can be too harsh when used for poultry.

The above, pecan and apple are good. Also,

Oak

Sassafras is a good twist too.
