Completely not beer, BUT you MUST get some Whyte Lady Gin! Really good stuff!
Of course, only if you like gin.

As far as the West goes, Montana is fairly pedestrian when it comes to beer. Certainly some good stuff, but many of the brewers operate with the brewpub license with no distro.
Still one of the best states in the country.

What part of Montana?
There are a lot of breweries up there, but most I have been to don't distribute much, and if they do it's just on draft. So you might have to settle for a few growlers.

His wife is going to seek out probably the most rare beer from a Minneapolis Minnesota brewery in...Montana?

Get some 10 Barrell and call it a day.

Bozeman Brewing will be the easiest for her to find in stores, they can a lot of their offerings. Outlaw Brewing does some good stuff but she would likely have to go get a growler filled. Same with MAP Brewing or 406 Brewing. There are 7-8 breweries in Bozeman, but most are still small and no packaging. At least as of last summer when I was up there.

I really like Trout Slayer and Moose Drool from Big Sky.
The Double Haul IPA from Kettlehouse is also really good if you like IPA's.

You should have her pick you up something from Dry Hills Distillery as well as some beers.
