Dude is constantly referenced as a "local New Orleans food writer" in national articles, such as in the New York Times. (here's one example, but I've seen him referenced many times previously LINK)

I've never run across anything he's really written about locally or seen any local publication with his reviews.

Anyone know anything about this guy? Dude seems like nothing more than a press-agent creation. And what's up with the stupid arse name?

Never heard of him either. But a quick google search sheds some light on the cat. Apparently he's also been published in the NY Times.

And here's a resume I found:

In previous incarnations, he has worked throughout the publishing industry in varying capacities from production art to newspaper editing to photojournalism to software education.

As a freelance journalist, his focus has been on food/travel writing, restaurant criticism and cooking-related features.

Partial publication list:

Newspapers:
Food editor of Louisville Courier-Journal. Published in New York Times (Dining In/Out, Travel, Escapes), New Orleans Times-Picayune, New Orleans Gambit Weekly, Austin Chronicle, Houston Press, London Daily Telegraph.
Magazines:
Saveur, Bon Appetit, Food Arts, Chile Pepper, Wine and Spirits, Coastal Living, BBC Good Food, Texas Monthly, Garden and Gun
Books:
ESPN Gameday Gourmet (ESPN Books, 2007), Eating New Orleans (Countryman Press, 2005), World Food New Orleans (Lonely Planet, 2000), Fodor’s Cityguide Austin (Fodor’s, 2001).
Online:
Citysearch.com (New Orleans, Austin, San Antonio), Condé Nast properties epicurious.com and concierge.com, beer.com (columnist), emerils.com
Awards:
2003 James Beard Journalism Award nomination for newspaper feature without recipes, Winner of Jacob’s Creek World Media Award (silver) for World Food New Orleans, 2007 Le Cordon Bleu World Media Award nomination for Eating New Orleans.

Pableaux is also a photojournalist with a specialty in street photography

Partial publication list: New York Times (Travel and Dining sections), Philadelphia Inquirer, Food Arts, Wine and Spirits, Chile Pepper magazines.
Prior to his life in “content side,” he worked as an independent graphic/web designer, print-production artist and all-around type monkey.

I first heard of him a few years ago. Read a couple of things he wrote. Dat's all I got.

He is a really nice guy, fantastic photographer. If you have ever read Gumbo Tales by Sara Roahen, he is the Pableaux she writes about in the chapter on red beans. As to whether or not that is his real name, I am not sure. Once you see him once, you see him everywhere.

So, you not jealous that the NY Times is calling him and not you?

That's one hell of a title.

I met him at Brick Store Pub in Decatur, GA a few years ago. Nice guy, but I don't know much other than just casual talk at the bar.
