Pre-Katrina, hole-in-the-wall but great place for po-boys.
Relocated after the storm, something changed in his recipes, raised prices and that was that.

Never ate there, but the guy was a longtime DJ on WRNO (back when they were the top rock station in NO), He also owned a record store in Chalmette way back when - Stash Records. Last I heard, he was not doing well, either financially or physically.

a weird dude. Made me very uncomfortable and cost a fortune last time I ate there.

I didn't know him other than when he would take our orders and deliver them at the counter. No real problems with his personality.
He made some awesome po-boys before the storm. After moving to Slidell it was our Friday go-to when too tired to cook.
Post-Katrina, as you mentioned he raised his prices and something happened with the quality of his product. Just wasn't the same.
Oh well, just doing some reminiscing and wondering if some of the other F&DB regulars remembered his joint.

Ate there a couple of times pre-K. i counted over 40 oysters on my poboy and my wife had over 50 shrimp on hers on the first visit.
The second I went with RB and it was pretty good.
Cap was friendly both times. Did show some physical burnout from all the 'good times' he's had in his life.
