I haven't read a lot about it on here, I don't believe.

I haven't seen it recommended here much, if at all, since it opened when folks are looking for fine dining in the FQ. I've been wondering whether the locals are embracing it. The old Brennan's was usually sternly not recommended, regularly.

i think there was a good reason it was never regularly recommended. We haad drinks there easter sundaay to start our day before hitting up Antoine's. The food looked good from what I could see and was totally packed.

The people that have been are not locals but do frequent nola and other fine dining places frequently so i trust their opinion. There are a lot of good places to eat down there besides Brennan's however. Locals likely won't recommend places like that and instead opt for the new spots with more cutting edge food.

I thought Brennan's was going to be part traditional Brennan's menu and part somewhat cutting edge food, though I haven't looked online at the menu. It may be catering to tourists, though, from the previous reputation of "breakfast at Brennan's".

Most everyone I've talked to says it's really good but I've heard some griping over the prices

I seem to recall seeing something like that somewhere as well.

The Brennan's don't do cutting edge food. They do formulaic menus built to make money.

They're good at that.

That's all true. I think I must have gotten the impression they were going a little outside of the box in some articles I read about the changes which would be implemented to the menus.

I read an article (I believe it was nola.com) the other day, in which they admitted that they hadn't really branched out with the menu, but that they were looking to go slightly adventurous when the fall season arrived. We'll see. I just don't have a ton of interest in going to many of the Brennan restaurants.

Well, that's what I thought was said early on about it branching out while preserving some old favorites. I thought that was the point of hiring the chef. He was going to get some leeway on creativity or so I thought.

I went about 6 weeks ago and had a nice time. The service was top notch and while the food was good, nothing was great. It is somewhere to go for a special occasion and for more of an experience. There are many places in the city with better food, with cheaper prices.

We went for Christmas Eve brunch and the food and drinks were all outstanding. Of course, you're going to pay a pretty penny for it.

Word is they spent $20 million on the renovation, which they're going to make back one Benjamin at a time.

Haven't been but have heard good things.

I ate there for a private banquet around Christmas time, right after it opened. The renovations were beautiful (they better be for $20 mil)and the food was superb. I know this is not a good way to judge a restaurant but the head chef was in charge of our meal that night and we had a lot of the regular dishes from their menu. I can't wait to go back.

It wasn't $20 Mil.

It has been updated and is very nice on the inside. The different rooms are neat but I think I liked the balcony over the courtyard the best followed by the courtyard.

Went last Saturday and can say that the food and drinks were very good. The experience was great. Wait staff knowledgable and friendly. Got a private tour of the wine room which was really cool.
