1PD: Old Fashioned Rendezvous, with homemade Luxardo cherries, raw sugar simple syrup and a hipster-sized ice cube. I usually don't mix the High West but, what-the-hell, usual gets boring.

I picked up this WhistlePig yesterday. Store select, single barrel, barrel proof, 10YO rye. What could go wrong? I've had a couple of pours before but never took the bait on a whole bottle until now. Feeling like I should crack it open and take a taste to decide if I want to stash a couple...

Trying the Pikesville Rye for the first time tonight. So far I am not impressed.

I picked up my first bottle of it about a month ago. I thought it was OK, but wouldn't be in a hurry to replace it. Which is good because it seems to have sold out everywhere around me.

I took my bottle to a party and we knocked about two-thirds of it out making cocktails. It showed very well there.

That's about 20 less than what I paid...I would it's pretty good. Nice and smooth with a nice light smoke.

There hasn't been enough whiskey in my life lately. Luckily I'm leaving for vacation on Wednesday, and I plan on changing that.

Packing list:

EH Taylor Single Barrel
SAOS store select bourbon
Pikesville Rye
Handle of Buffalo Trace for mixing
2 bottles of Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream (A man needs his coffee in the morning.)

If I'm heading to the AL/FL coast, should stock up at home or will I be able to find some quality bourbon down there?

I plan to drink massive amounts of beer also. Does that help?
