Just read this article in the advocate. Sounds like they're hoping to be open early in 2016. Anyone have any good info about what types of beers they'll be doing?

Unfortunately, the southern climate is not conducive to the growing barley and hops. So to focus on local ingredients I'm guessing they brew a lot of beers with stuff like satsumas and pecans. Or he could be talking about using Baton Rouge water. That's a local ingredient. Really the biggest one.

Nice guys, for some reason they are trying to keep a low profile until they are much closer to releasing beer. I guess I kind of understand that just to try and stem the hype in case they have issues starting up.

I'm guessing the BR Water would be a plus for brewing no? Does it really matter?

How are these names not taken already?? Southern Craft? We just had Southern Brewing Co open in Athens. Seems like the most basic names ever, yet somehow they aren't taken. But hey, as long as they have good beer, i'm all for it.

I can respect that. It says they're under construction, so that's further along than most breweries "in the planning stage." Most breweries make a couple showings at beer festivals serving their homebrew, and then fall off the face of the earth.

Water matters a lot, but I'm not sure if Baton Rouge water makes a huge difference vs. other locales. Most are probably RO filtered and then built back up with different minerals.

I cringe a little when I read trite statements like this. But I'm definitely rooting for them to brew some good beer. And given these guys' background, they should know what that is. Best of luck!

Could they have come up with a more generic name?

The name is awful, logo is pretty bad as well.

Fingers crossed they make good beer though.

Good luck to them. Seems like neither have experience working at a brewery so unless they have deep pockets so they can push the opening back and throw away a bunch of batches don't have hopes for the beer they make when they open. A lot of people are good homebrewers but unfortunately you can't just scale up a 5 gallon recipe into a 310 gallon one.
