What's the F&D board's opinion of Meche's Donuts?

I find them too big and greasy. I prefer a small and lighter donut. I'm sure I'm in the minority on this.

I actually like Meche's donuts fine even though they are a bit heavy. With that said, can't stand their king cake. Never understood people's obsession with it.

I agree with you, OP.

They aren't as bad as Mr. Ronnie's, though. Those things are like sugar-coated cement blocks.

Yep, Ricky Meches aren't good and are really big and heavy like you're saying. If you want a light, melt in your mouth donuts then go to Meches in New Iberia.

New Iberia Meches > Cajun Market Donut (formerly Meches Donut King) >>>>>> Ricky Meches.

Grew up eating Meche's donuts and loved them. It's been a long time, not sure what I'd still think of them.

Which meches was the one near congress and ambassador? I used to love their donuts. One choc glazed, one blueberry cake, 1 milk, 1 coffee.

Mary Lee in BR does this shite too. One on Perkins: 10/10 bomb. One at drusilla- 5/10 meh. What's with donut franchising?

meches donuts are terrible.

this place in eunice has the best donuts in the world.

I drive from opelousas to eunice to get donuts because they are so good. I get a dozen chocolate and eat at least about 8 of them and have to make myself stop.

Ray's makes some good ones. We'd often get donuts from there, especially Friday mornings before our football games. Good times.

I've never tried Ray's, but I will, next time I'm in the area.

My favorite is Shipley's in Bunkie.

Jaks is ok. I had some from St. Martinville not long ago that were good. Will have to try Rays.

Jay's donuts in Baton Rouge was the GOAT until the government fricked it up and took over his parking lot.

Be careful, they are addictive. They also have really good french breads.

Meche's is horrible. I've only been to the Guilbeau and Kaliste Saloom/Ambassador locations. I find them too dry and cakey. Prefer Cajun Market Donut Co.

Nothing, and I mean nothing, beats Bakers Dozen on Jeff Hwy in New Orleans. That is how you make a donut.
