I know. That seems insane to me for a place that serves specifically barbecue. It seems like a good way to alienate the blue collar/workforce patrons that would be willing to stop in for lunch.

Well they are in a music venue so I'm sure that has something to do with it.

This is the motto on their website:

"New Orleans' Best BBQ in the World"

Tell me how much that makes sense.

I bet Ronnie is going to be in here shortly to defend that motto.

And yea, I mean they are just the kitchen for the venue so I doubt they have much say over hours.

Kind of redundant. If it is the best in New Orleans then it is the best in the world.

I was unaware that they did not operate out of their own building. It still seems like they are missing out on a lot of business by alienating the day crowd.

?? I can think of countless places open for lunch only. Or dinner only. Or weird combinations of hours (Humble Bagel's Th/F/Sa/Su/M or Breads on Oak's W/Th/F/Sa/Su come to mind). Plenty of people work non 9-5 schedules, esp in NOLA with so many employed in service industries or healthcare.

its not exactly an industrial mecca on that stretch of canal for the weekday lunch crowds, and there arent many attractions for the weekenders. the music tends to bring the crowds, they feed those crowds.

no one is alienated.

A couple of years ago, there was a different pop-up operating out of Chickie Wah Wah - a sandwich place (forget the name). They were open for lunch during the week, but couldn't attract a crowd. I like Blue Oak, but also wish they could get their own location.

And for a place that serves barbecue I could understand that.

There are plenty of restaurants that do this and I am fine with it. However, barbecue doesn't seem to me like something you eat specifically at night.

I get it. Again, it just seems weird that a place that serves barbecue of all things would have such odd hours. I could understand something like pizza, but not brisket, pork, and ribs.

They already have patrons at night via the music venue. Those patrons don't have another option. It is much easier to operate a BBQ restaurant that serves evenings.
