My Mom gave me some kitchen stuff she didn't need anymore and this was in it. What exactly is this?

That is a cherished gift. From the looks of the leather strap, it was evidently passed on to your mother from her mother, that got it from her mother.

No one knew what it was used for and that's why it still looks brand new.

Sous vide spatula. It's made sturdy out of wood and leather to hold up to the 48 hour cook times

Cooks Illustrated has a bit in the magazine where they identify old kitchen tools. Send it in for assessment.
