I guess this is a spin-off thread.

Likening the shite Olive Garden serves to actual, authentic Italian food is probably a low for the board.

Can anyone top that?

That you have to use okra to call it gumbo. That thread originated on the OT so not sure it should count.

I think that's a linguistics technicality

The word Gumbo is a derivative of the word okra

I suppose it depends on how you interpret that.

You could list any number of the gumbo "truisms" on here.

Gumbo has to have okra
Gumbo can't have okra
Gumbo can't have celery
Gumbo should only have onions, not celery or bell peppers
All "New Orleans" gumbo has tomatoes, and gumbo shouldn't have tomatoes
Etc, etc.

Gumbo has to have to Okra to be called a gumbo otherwise it's a stew............. Has to be a Freshwater Coonass to come up with some stupid shite like that.
