It doesn't have to be a 5 star restaurant, but it obviously could be. Maybe the experience or the circumstances were unique.

Place in Rome. Ended up being seven courses or so, food wasn't great and service was slow.

But it was on a hill overlooking entire city on a mild summer day. It was beautiful.

Also had a decent tenderloin and shrimp at the strip club last weekend.

A few years back I visited my Mother, who made an old family Sauerbraten recipe. The flavors brought tears to my eyes bringing back childhood memories, so that has to count for something.

My personal favorite was here.

back in the day for Christmas, my uncle (big time chef in texas) made lamb chops with some type of nice glaze that was cooked perfectly. The sides were garlic mashed potatoes that were thick, yet creamy. Also had brown sugar, sweeted carrots. Homemade bread.

I never remember being so satisfied with something in my entire life.

Absolutely worth a visit. They do small bites of like 12 courses and you interact with the chef the whole time. We all know Nashville has great food and this is my favorite.

The entire experience is awesome there

I'm sure one of my meals at Commanders would rank as best.

Bangkok Cuisine when it was on Carrollton next to Rock N Bowl

I also remember having a stellar meal at Catahoula's in Grand Coteau about a decade ago.

As a kid growing up I had some great meals at the old Red Bull Inns around Pittsburgh

On a lesser scale, Gus's in Memphis and Hawk's in Robert's Cove

My 30th birthday last month we were in NY and I ate at a place called Le Coucou.

The food was outstanding and whoever their saucier is deserves a medal. But additionally the location is very well done, the wine list was great (and the sommelier was really helpful), and the service was impeccable. Just all in all an incredible meal and experience.

not sure its the best, but best in recent memory was when wife and I went to Girl and the Goat a few months back.

I remember saying "this place cant be THAT good", and then they brought the pork shank and dat homemade bread.

I remember taking a bite and just sitting back and taking a sip of wine and thinking "holy sh*t thats amazing".

My favorite meal of all time was at the now closed Le Parvenu in Kenner's Rivertown area. It was the first time the wife and I ate dinner out after Katrina. I had a steak that just melted in your mouth. He used to make what he called oyster doubloons, they were amazing. Don't know if the food was just that good, or we had been in food exile in Houston for so long. 2nd and 3rd would probably be the tasting menu at Stella, and the Chef's table at Commanders.

Per Se in NYC a while back. Don't recall exactly what we had but it was 7-8 small courses including a dessert. Everything we ate had such intense flavor and the service was outstanding.

Those type of meals are always the best. Miss going deep sea fishing with my grandpa and dad. My granny would make us a bunch of sandwiches like that and we would all take a break from fishing and just talk. My grandpa can't fish anymore and broke down on me when telling me about the issues with cancer he is fighting right now when I went visited over Christmas, miss those days out in the gulf.

Went to a wedding in Bordeaux at a chateau. 7 course meal and all of the best wine you can drink.

Also have very fond memories of the breakfasts at the hotels in France.

Probably the meal I'll always consider the turning point in my life was at my grandmother's table while I was in high school.

It was during the summer and I had been at dance camp. It had been endless fast food meals and she brings out a traditional Southern veggie dinner. I scarfed that down like I had never eaten before. That's when I first started to take an interest in real food and left my days of frequent Taco Bell, McDonald's, and frozen microwave meals in my childhood.
