Bryant's Kansas City
Gates' Kansas City
Some place that closed down years ago in Royal, Arkansas had phenomenal ribs and roasted whole corn. Can't recall the name, though.

Killen's in Pearland.

It's also great that my house is only 5 miles from it.

The original Dreamland in Tuscaloosa. The ribs were so good, it was a religious experience.
Franklin was great too. I've made decent brisket, but the gap between what I've done is like going from a good pickup player at the Y to LeBron James.

I don't really have a favorite but I've eaten a bunch of them and in no particular order I like:

Kreuz, Smiity's and Black's, Lockhart. But I even like Chisolm Trail too and it is cheap.

Snow's, Louie Mueller, John Mueller, Franklin and Salt Lick. What is John Muellers old place? His sister has it?

Interstate and Rendavoux in Memphis. 4505 Burgers and BBQ in San Fransisco, Big Bob Gibsons white chicken. Not a huge fan of Arthur Bryant's but what do I know?

I like the chopped pork sandwich at Paynes Memphis. Dreamland in Tuscaloosa used to be good but haven't been in years. I like Bodacious in Whiteoak Texas but don't care for the others.

I liked Lexinton in NC but haven't eaten much else around that area.

He had a place on the east side of I-35 for a couple of years. It closed years ago.

I believe got out of the business, re-opened with his sister then had a falling out with her and opened his own place in Austin recently. Major soap opera guy....but cooks some mean BBQ.

Love all three of these Lockhart joints and if I had to rank them on my preference - I would have them just like that.

I think she runs the place that her and John went in together with a couple of years ago. I think it's called LA BBQ.

"John’s father was the legendary Bobby Mueller who stoked the fires at the heralded Louie Mueller Barbecue in Taylor, Texas for decades before his death in 2008. John’s brother is Wayne who is now at the helm in Taylor and his sister LeAnn owns one of his biggest competitors, la Barbecue, down the street in a food trailer that used to be John’s professional home. John first came to Austin in 2001 when he opened a joint on Manor Road. The food got great reviews, but it closed after five years. Now he’s nearly two years into a stint on East Sixth Street and is as surly as ever."

Salt Lick, Franklin, Luling City market etc all great but, the beef rib at the Pecan Lodge in Dallas is the best BBQ that has ever been in my mouth.
