It's my favorite RB poboy in Nola. All the usual seafood is good. Surprisingly, if you are a fan of sweet red sauce, their pizza is good.
I've never had a complaint about the food, but the attitudes of the wait staff and the dirty feel of the place annoys me sometimes.

WOP salad. Pizzas are good. Chicken parmesan is legit.

Soft shell crab when they have it

The Italian sandwich on that Italian bread with meatballs and Italian sausage is a winner. The muffalatta is my favorite.

Anyone know where the bread comes from or whether it's made in house. It's so good.

I thought the fried seafood was excellent.

The R&O Special and their Muffaletta are really good. I can't remember the last time I got anything else, aside from some boiled crawfish (which weren't that great).

Leidenheimer seeded (toasted)

I gotta say, my wife and her family love the place, but it's not a favorite of mine.
I find their prices to be high compared to the quality of the food and the service. I don't find their poboys really any better than a number of places that charge both cheaper prices and I don't have to pay for sit down service.
Their red gravy is very sweet and very watery. The sweetness does not sit well with my stomach.
Their service is pretty meh at best, and cleanliness isn't a virtue. Again, it's not bad per se... but to me not worth their prices.
Also, I went there last Saturday, and they are now charging $3 for fountain drinks. This is the first non-fancy place I have seen that has crossed that price point.

Is that sold in stores? I can't recall ever seeing it. I buy the Italian twist a lot. I love seeded breads.

Their sandwiches aren't inexpensive, but every place seems high these days. $15 or $16 for an oyster loaf seems crazy to me. What places do you like that have good poboys, but are cheaper?

The tables are occasionally, if not often, funky and the bus boys are in no hurry. You're right about that. I try not to think about what might be happening in the kitchen.
On the up side, the men's room has been remodeled and is exponentially nicer than it was 25 years ago. I also took an almost full order of onion rings that were left on the table next to us after the St. Patrick's Day parade!
The waitresses can be kind of rough around the edges, but I've always thought they were nice enough and reasonable efficient. I have no beef about them. That being said, I'm from N.O., so maybe I'm just conditioned to think a noisy, crowded, semi-sanitary restaurant with a Y'at wait staff is normal.
