I don't have anything against ordering wine, but why not support your local business? The local wine purveyor will be able to lead you in directions you'll enjoy, especially if you take the time to take pictures of bottles you liked.

I'm a very adventurous wine drinker, and I've been using the local wine shop for years. They know my tastes, and they love me coming in, giving them a budget, and telling them to shop for me. They say they really like showing me new stuff, stuff I haven't tried before. They're not all winners, but that's part of the fun in developing that relationship.

I've ordered wines from each of these websites with no problems:

wtso.com

wineaccess.com

klwines.com

napacabs.com

liquorama.net

I don't disagree per se, but it can be difficult to find a knowledgeable place in some areas. I've seen some larger liquor stores that have a lot of wine to choose from, but very little selection, if you know what I mean.

That's understandable. You do have to find a knowledgeable staff and find someone you trust, which is easier said than done. The place I use is small, but they have a great selection.

It doesn't take me time at all. I tell the guy he has $150 to spend, and it takes him just a few minutes to fill the basket. He also is good about giving me $10-$15 bottles mostly, but then will usually give me one special occasion, $30-$40 bottle.

This is a good one...especially if you're looking for deals.

I am surprised ClubW (www.clubw.com) has not been mentioned. They are a monthly wine subscription and you can get 3 bottles a month for $45 shipped. Typically speaking their bottles are $13 and shipping is $6 bucks.

They offer special winemaker blends and you get a cool card that describes your wine with a recipe that would pair well with it.

U just want to stock for cheap? Join nakedwines. There are coupons to get you started and u can get ur 1st couple cases for under $200. Decide if you like any of their wines, cancel ur membership if not.

I did it, just to have some bottles for easy drinking and socializing...

Admittedly, when it was time to "rate" their wines, their wines ran about 50% "I would order again."

Just a thought.
