Had my monthly blood work done today (warfarin therapy check) and my INR was 3.88, so I am having massive amounts of turnip and mustard greens for dinner along with all of the turnip green broth I can drink tonight.
I usually have a smallish serving of turnip greens about once a month since the vitamin K in dark leafy veggies can make blood clots form on my artificial carbon fiber mitral (heart) valve and that is a huge death inducing no-no. Because of this I stay away from Turnips, Mustard Greens, Collards, Spinach, Broccoli, Kale, Brussel Sprouts, etc. except in smallish and infrequent portions. (sigh)
Anyhow, my belly is now turnip and mustard green happy and hopefully with greens and skipping my warfarin dose tonight will pull me back closer to the 2.5-3.5 level where my blood should be.
Warfarin therapy patients have to be careful when their INR goes this high. I bled from my eyes once and had a deep muscle bleed in my left leg another time that required four surgeries in 7 days and a 21 day stay in hospital before they let me go home. Almost lost my leg that time. A bleed in the brain would likely be fatal.
Who would have thought turnips could be both good and good for you?

Don't worry, I'm sure I'll have 92 or 63 upvotes soon, then you can take that "mistake" one down!

Never had 5 guys. 1800 calorie cheeseburger is not on radar.
