I have a butternut squash, so I'm going to try my hand at a small portion of soup. Not following a recipe, but will likely roast the squash in the oven. Will saute onions and garlic.. mix all with chicken broth, heavy whipping cream, seasonings (thinking a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg?).. pulse all in blender.

Sound good, LL. Maybe some sage, if you have it.

Sauteed chicken breast, cut into strips. Seasoned with smoked paprika. Sauteed red bell pepper and steamed broccoli. Water to drink.

All after taking a nice walk in this beautiful weather.

the tiniest dash if you do .. will overwhelm your soup if you're not careful

Definition: A bisque is a rich, creamy soup made with shellfish — specifically, bisque is traditionally made with the puréed meat of crustaceans, including lobster, crab, shrimp or crayfish.

When making bisque, the shells are roasted and then simmered to produce a highly flavorful stock which is then thickened. The meat itself is added to the bisque near the end of cooking.

I read that roasting it for an hour after cutting it lengthwise will make it easier to peel and cut.. As both are very hard when it's not roasted. You think I can cube and peel it easily without roasting it?

One article said she just roasts it and then she can spoon it out of the skins.

The temperature is finally dropping. I'm gonna need a recipe for that. A good, hearty bowl of chili on a cold day is one of life's simple pleasures.
