When we arrived I noticed mayo on the table. Hadn't seen this before.
I then saw locals mixing mayo, ketchup and hot sauce for crawfish dip? Couldn't believe it. What's the deal?

Some folks like to dip their crawfish in it.

Very typical in areas of Cajun Country, really.

Sounds perfectly normal to me.

People seem to love dipping their crawfish in Cane's sauce.

People like it. I'm not a fan, but I've seen plenty of people do it.

Some people add horseradish or cajun power garlic sauce for a kick. It's not foreign of a concept unless you're outside of the Acadiana area.

Crawfish Tyme in Shreveport has some "dipping sauce" that is pretty similar to Cane's sauce. It's actually pretty good. I only dip the occasional tail in though.

I'm too busy eating crawfish to worry about dipping the tails in a sauce. Waisting valuable eating time.

Wife and daughter mix this for anything fried as well as boiled crawfish and shrimp. Old Mamou thing.

The taste of crawfish/crab boil is one of the great pleasures of life. I'll pour liquid boil in a pot to cook hotdogs.

I know some people like to have the dipping sauce, but I'm not one of them. If anything, I'm dipping the tail meat in the juice that leaks from opening the crawfish.

Down votes from hell, lol. I didn't mean to offend anyone. It just seems that would take away from the actual taste of crawfish.
I've eaten crawfish state-wide and had never saw this before. Not even in Lafayette, right down the road. Just curious. Didn't know it was an offensive subject

I boil crawfish all over the state and country and most people use dip. It's included in my base quote and I've never had anyone tell me they didn't want it.

I could eat a charcoal briquet if it was dipped in mayo, ketchup and hot sauce. Add horseradish and a squirt of lemon I could knock out a bag of Kingsford. I prefer to eat crawfish in mass quantities really fast so I don't have time for no dip. But I bet it's good.

I drag shrimp through tarter sauce and oysters through cocktail sauce but I've never dipped crawfish and frankly don't ever recall seeing dip on the table.

Im 38 & have been eating crawfish dip all my life...... Id say Canes modeled their Canes dip after crawfish dip as we call it. When I was a kid we would break the backs off of a crab and clean it out..... that was our "bowl" that we used to put our dip in. I still do it to this day.

You didn't offend me and I didn't down vote. I think the voting thing is stupid. I don't always even notice them.
