They've been tearing that thing up for like half a month. When is that thing gonna reopen and whats the big idea?!?!

Remodeling takes a long time when you have to go through 30-40 years of grease and gunk built up under the tables. It was way overdue for a remodel.

The franchise agreement requires renovation of each restaurant at 15 years and complete rebuild at 30 years. The College Drive restaurant is the only one with a bar attached to it.
And they are opening 5 new ones around here this year not including NO which he doesn't have the franchise to.

With all the mob in CB&D Saturday, I didn't get to ask Tom-is Port Royal going to return to be the neighbor of the new Waffle House? All my dives are going away...

I thought Port Royal was still open, even with the construction going on next door. There's a big spray-painted sign leaning against a light pole that says "Port Royal is Open". Posted on 5/18/15 at 7:40 pm to Dorothy

I'm pretty sure it is staying open. I do believe there was some hoops jumped through with Waffle House.
I used to go in there when it was a nice smoky little Jazz bar and can't remember what it was named.

The Jazz bar was named Bombay Gin Club or something to the effect if I recall...
As far as Port goes, they have been moonlighting at Brickyard South on Monday's and calling it "Brick-Royal" and I think they've done a few other week nights.
Port's ETA to re-open is probably 2-3 weeks, but it could be earlier. They busted a water main and then fricked up the power after that.
