Going there tomorrow night. Did I make the right choice in steakhouses in Houston? also any recommendations on steak cut/apps/sides?

It's definitely not the wrong choice.

You will enjoy it.

It's great. Some may prefer other places but you can't go wrong with any of them.

Aged Ribeye there was among the best steaks I've had. I recall saying skip the mac & cheese after every time I've gone, oddly enough.

You made a great choice. You can't go wrong with V&A, Pappa's, and Killen's.

My go to's are the lobster bisque, roasted bone marrow, bone in ribeye, and duck fat potatoes.

There are probably at least a dozen steak places in Houston where you really can't go wrong if not about 5 dozen. You'll enjoy it.

You'll like it. Bring your wallet though.

Last time I was there I got the mushroom side, and it had morels, my favorite. They're out of season right now though.

Vic and Anthony's is fine but have you been to any others besides those two? I find Brenner's has a nice atmosphere on a nice piece of property but I thought it average at best. Just curious because I've only been once and wouldn't say that I'd go back but maybe I just caught them on an off day.

I can't say I go frequently, but I'm not going to a steakhouse in the Galleria mall or the Perrys chain.

Brenner's and V&A always the filet, spinach side.

PJ's on Gray steak night for two, obviously a much different atmosphere, but solid steak.

You picked the Mercedes in a choice of BMW, Audi, and Mercedes.

Enjoy. Been there twice. It is delicious. My steak was incredible. In addition a friend at the table was appalled that I did not like lobster and gave me a bite of hers. I said it was "ok". She let me know that I should never try lobster again as it gets no better.

I was just asking. Brenner's has a nice place and many suggest it. I'm going to give it another go before I make my final decision. I just thought it was a significant step down from V+A's, Pappas, Killens. Would you agree with that?

Steak is so subjective. I love Brenner's and think Vics is not bad. I'd put Brenner's in the same group as Pappas, Vics in the very close group below it. Killens is my favorite.

It's all good.

8.5/10

2 of us walked there from Minute Maid Park after an LSU baseball game last year.

The strip was better than the bone-in filet.

We didn't have drinks.

I wish I had pics but I don't.

Went last night. We had a great meal. Service was near flawless.
Our meal was well paced between the appetizer, entree and dessert/coffee.

We split lobster bisque and also roasted bacon as our appetizer. Lobster bisque had great flavor. Just served a little cooler than I would have liked.
The roasted bacon was great. It was two big thick strips. We enjoyed the smoky flavor.

I got the 16oz ribeye and it was perfect. My wife got the 8oz filet. She liked hers a lot but it was cooked slightly more than she wanted but she wasn't complaining.
We split au gratin potatoes. That was probably my favorite side I've had at a steak house. Baked layer of cheese on top and the potatoes were chunks with creamy cheese throughout.

We split the molten lava cake. It had a rasberry drizzle on top. It was good but I've had better desserts.

Our bill was $149 without tip and we weren't drinking alcohol. I think it was worth every penny and we were definitely happy with our choice. Thanks for the suggestions.
