I assume that many people use vacuum storage systems of some kind at their house. Do you feel it is a worthwhile investment? For the first time ever I clicked on an ad on TD for the VacuVita and it seems like a pretty good product. Kind of pricey but if it saves me money on food going bad it may be worth it. Do the cheaper models work well?

I have a cheap food saver

Works great for buying family packs of meat, etc.

We freeze some leftovers in bags too, but it doesn't have a whole lot of power like some of the more expensive types

I use a cheap food saver system. I clicked on the same ad and while it looked nice I couldn't justify the price.

It works great for freezing food. Never had any issues with freezer burn. When I want to thaw the food I just throw the bag in boiling water.

I also use my food saver to split bulk hop pellets into one ounce packages.

It is fairly expensive at 179 for the package I would select.

I've always just used ziplock freezer bags and sucked the air out through a straw.

Vacuvita seems pretty cool. Will wait to hear testimonies on it before thinking about picking one up.

We have a $100 vacuum sealer that has worked great.

I got the food saver and use it when I buy the 10lb bags of chicken quarters or family packs of steaks.

Also use it for fish, leftover jambalaya, gumbo, etc.

This is my biggst use for it. Buying in bulk at Sams and freezing chicken, ground beef, etc.

Its also nice to reseal bags of sausage.

It also helped me get 6 shots of makers into the tcu game.

I've got a standard Foodsaver model. Like many others I use it to freeze meat when I buy in bulk and to freeze leftovers. Buy the bags on amazon and eBay to save some cash.

I bought a Foodsaver from Sam's a few years. Not the new fancier one which looks pretty neat, but the standard. Works great. I use it all the time for a variety of foods.

I looked at the newer fancier model, but mine still serves my purposes so walked away. Quickly.

I agree w/Gris. I have an old FoodSaver, at the time the kit cost about $150. Go to Sams and see what they have, usually the best deal around.
