Meat placed on mashed potatoes to look "fancy". I hate meat dipped in potatoes.

That's not minor that actually perturbs me pretty bad when it's a good cut of meat.

You gotta drain the can over the sink, then beat it against the edge of a bowl until they all fall out in one glorious chunk.

And minor pet peeve of mine, the packaging on the barbecue and smoked versions is too similar. More than once I've been fooled and opened up that nasty can of sauce.

whenever you're thirsty as hell and you have "orange slice" ice cubes and that one fricking cube is sideways and it's not allowing the water to pass.

Dipping a chip and then scraping the dip off onto the side of the bowl. My wife does this, and it drives me up the wall

Additionally... dipping into salsa and then with the same chip dipping into the queso. Wife does it ALL the time. It's only a matter of dips before both are the same.

Not necessarily this, but every decent restaurant in Atlanta is trying to compete with Holeman+Finch on the "best upscale burger in town" thing, and they all think it's so quaint to have house made smoked ketchup, a blend of USDA prime cuts ground fresh, etc...only to top it off with a Kraft single.

red beans/gumbo with hardly any sausage in the serving

Red beans should not have sausage in them.

Pan fry that shite and serve on the side, with a nice char on it.

And Seafood gumbo should never have sausage.

Think mine is the GF saying she wants to go somewhere "nice" to eat so I make reservations and then she orders something she always eats.
Not sure if this counts as a food pet peeve but it is a pet peeve.

I disagree, but to each his own.

Starchy rice is one of my pet peeves. I shouldn't have to pre-rinse over and over.

My sister in law showed up with a can of jar spaghetti sauce for herself when I invited the entire family over for home made spaghetti. She claimed she didn't eat ground beef (which was in the sauce).

... yikes

I guess that is better than her just "hating homemade sauce".. still pretty offensive though.

I actually make big batches of sauce and keep both meat sauces and meatless sauces in the freezer at all times. I used to love meat in the sauce, but lately I'm liking the rich flavor of sans-meat sauce like at restaurants.

I can't even eat if the food keeps touching. I like military plates, I'm a military man, I want a military meal.

I want my string beans to be quarantined. I like a little fortress around my mashed potatoes so the meatloaf doesn't invade my mashed potatoes and cause mixing in my plate.

I HATE IT when food touches. I'm a military man, you understand that? And don't let your food touch either, please?

I have a bunch of these babies.
LINK
I got them at a great price from chef's catalog, but in searching, looks like it closed. Don't know if they're elsewhere. They're superb.

I have some fiesta type colored round ones also. Bought them periodically on eBay when the price was right. They aren't as deep, but still fun. I have about 4 different sets of sectioned plates. People always want to know where I got them. They love them, too.

FDB makes fun of me, though.
