What'd they do?

It was a best of 5 dishes in sort of a kitchen stadium. The winner won in 4 dishes so you didn't get to see everything they made. Plus it took too much time and the food itself didn't get enough attention. They usually do a good job of describing everything going on with the dish, execpt for the finale.

I'm not talking about prep time. I'm talking slow cooking

They've had a few challenges with slow cooking, I remember a smoking episode and a chili cook off. It just gets kind of boring without watching them compete against the pressure of the clock.

And there's usually at least 1 episode per season where they can cook their best dish with no time limit. That's always cool to see, but too much of that can get boring.

Yeah, two episodes in how many?

That was just 2 off the top of my head in one season. They usually have 1 episode without the clock per season.

Everyone would put out perfect food, mistakes are what make competitions fun to watch.

Big Top Chef fan so I'm very excited that it is coming here. Very curious, as others have mentioned, to see which local chefs/restaurants get highlighted.

Now we just need someone with connections to get us to be part of the audience at a challenge so we can actually taste the food!

BlackenedOut has had some nice tweets regarding this:
quote:

@BlackenedOut 1h

This week on Top Chef, the cheftestants travel to the Treme to cook a meal inspired by the hit HBO show (guest judge: some Brennan).

Tune in next week, as our cheftestants cook aboard a paddlwheeler (guest judge: some actor in town to shoot on a paddlewheel)

@BlackenedOut 1h

This week on Top Chef: Its Mardi Gras, tune in as Padma wears some Venetian carnival shite to a bal masque (judge: Harry Connick)

?@BlackenedOut 1h

Travel along with the Cheftestants to the Broad St. Whole Foods in their Toyota Prius, which mysteriously disappear from the parking lot.

@BlackenedOut 1h

Next week on Top Chef, the cheftestants and the City Council members pair off for a Food Truck Throwdown (judge: Mayor Mitch)

@BlackenedOut 1h

@moosedenied There is going to be a new Cheftestant Creation at Jimmy John's: caramelized fennel, duck confit, and raisin (on rye).

@BlackenedOut 1h

Restaurant Wars: Top Chef New Orleans will be an actual war between the Cheftestants and the NIMBY's. That should be watchable.

@BlackenedOut 1h

Cant wait for them to interview a cheftestant named Flor or some shite who says, "I went to the Mardi Gras, so I understand this food."

@BlackenedOut 1h

Cannot wait to learn which debutante has her party at F&M's catered by a sous chef from Wisconsin.

@BlackenedOut 1h

This week on Top Chef, the cheftestants ride in Endymion and are forced to make a meal out of whatever is on the float (actually kinda cool)

God, thread title police are out of control. Mine was succinct and to the point. Or, at least so I thought.

Whatever.

Let the rest of us know if you find a way. It would be awesome to go eat at restaurant wars or something of that nature.

This week on Top Chef, the Cheftestants must connect with Metry culture and do their best riffs on Applebee's classics. Special guest judge Tommy Cappela.

I can definitely see them doing an alligator quickfire with Troy from Swamp People as the guest judge. Or a duck dish with the Duck Dynasty people?

I hope I am wrong.

I haven't watched Top Chef since the Voltaggio brothers season.

I think what originally turned me off was that one season with the obnoxious lesbian chef Lisa whose cooking skills were god awful and she made it to the final 3 because she was slightly better than the worst chef and was usually in the bottom 3 each episode. Richard Blais and the Stephanie girl were light years better than that woman.

I wonder where they will house these people, will it be in hipster paradise? Or a cool mansion Uptown? French Quarter? What food will be chosen as a cook off like they did chili in Texas...red beans, gumbo, po-boys?

Good questions. I don't know about the cook-off format but I think it's a guarantee we'll see them do their interpretations of gumbo and po-boys at the very least.
