So I saw Tincup whiskey the other day in Alexanders. Cool bottle, good color... why not give it a try.

There is no depth to this bourbon (64% corn). Its very sweet nose and initial taste with a drop off kinda dry finish.

Then I start reading about this bourbon online. Dude that bottles it doesn't even make the bourbon. he buys it and cuts it with "rocky mountain Colorado spring water" So there is no age on the bottle.

I hate getting duped on a bourbon.

FYI BTW

The review in your link was a bit more kind.

My question is this. Does it taste good? Is your "don't buy it" simply based on the fact that you don't like the makings of it?

Its close to $30 a fifth too. Much better stuff out there at that price point.

IMO it really doesnt taste good. Its like they added vodka and water to a bourbon. Very watery taste on the back end.

My dont buy it comment was more because it was a waste of money, TO ME, for 30 bucks. I could have gotten eagle rare for that... or any number of other bourbons that at least have some taste.

The way its produced and marketed is also a turn off. But If the bourbon was good... I wouldnt have posted this.

As whiskey goes, Tincup is one of the gentlest I’ve ever had...This all leads into a quiet and surprisingly understated body...(solid caramel notes returning here), and hard not to like.

Your review and the one you linked are on polar opposite ends. The excerpts I quoted actually make me want to go out and try it.
