I liked those when I had them at JS. Pickled cactus took some getting used to

No, I am not. Have you eaten there recently and had any of the tacos on the taco menu?

I was wondering the same thing. I have not been there in a while or had the Taco Menu, FWIW.

A little hyperbolic, huh? Although, I've asked about them before and the staff advised against them. Never tried it.

Perhaps, but they were disgusting. By far the worst tacos I've ever had, and that includes Taco Bell. They were legitimately appetite-ruiningly foul.

I highly recommend giving them a try then. The owner readily admits the menu has been a work in progress. But everyone of the tacos I've had off the taco menu has been outstanding. It's a separate menu by the way.

Yes, perhaps

ETA: And I'm not even saying that what you got isn't possible. But it is definitely not the norm there, and I think anyone would agree with that.

I agree that they were horrible. It was grand opening weekend, which IMO means you should be on your A-game (since Besh and Sanchez were in the darn place all week).. but if they're good now, I'll never know because I couldn't stomach trying them again simply due to the memory.

The rest of the stuff wasn't horrible.. it just wasn't anywhere near my expectations.

Also, while it seems more people here do like Ballsack than hate it, I have seen quite a few posters say they disliked it just as much Either way, tacos aren't what I want when I go into New Orleans anyway, so I doubt I'll make it back anytime soon.

They have better stuff than tacos IMO. But making that kind of judgement based off is a little harsh IMO. You don't have to give a place 6 month to work out kinks, but expecting perfection on their first weekend is a bit unrealistic. Just my opinion of course.

I went again.. a few months later..

It was better than it was because I avoided the tacos, but it was still mediocre.

I feel like if Johnny Sanchez wasn't owned by two celebrity chefs it wouldn't get as much love. The food is pretty bleh.

I would take chicken Chalupas from Taco Bell over the Tacos I had at Besh. I just didn't like it, and I love that style of food and go to Mais Arepas and Mizado a lot.
Mizado IMO has the best tacos in town.

I'll try anywhere else that has been mentioned as better though.

I do. It's probably my favorite place to just stop in for a drink and a bite. It's replaced Finn's/BooKoo for me.

(I used to mention Finn's that much) (I mention Parenton's a lot two, and have had two posters email me for info and directions to that place. )
