It's retailers making a huge markup off of it. Your allocation is highly dependent on quantity if product sold, # of skus, and some loyalty more so to sazerac co. If you're a huge mover of eagle rare, buffalo trace, old charter, etc you will be given a slightly larger allocation. If you stock every offering from sazerac you get bonus points. However, republic has held their wholesale within the range it's always been. It's the demand the retailers see that gets the bigger price. The distributors actually hate having something so limited because someone is always bound to get upset over what they get.

Not I...I am a libertarian. ..free market. I personally will not pay $500. I also have the ability to not give them my wine business throughout the year bc of that. That is the free market...

I know a few retailers who are getting it and actually purchased cases of stuff they had no desire to sell, but their reps were pushing it with a wink and saying you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.

And, TA, $3k isn't going to cut it at a retailer that likely has so many large accounts. The key is to find smaller market retailers that sell the sazerac Co products well.

Lets just say I know Dorignacs paid $245 for the 23 year Pappy and received their alotment last Friday. They got 4 cases of 15 year, 5 cases 20year, and 4 cases 23 year.

Last year, they were selling the 20 year for around $500, and the 23 year for $750. I was livid...I emailed Pappy Van Winkle and received a reply from Preston Van Winkle, and he said they were fully aware of the situation, but there were laws preventing them from doing much, but could reduce the alotment Dorignacs gets from Republic. Preston even mentioned what the retail price should be, and I took that email with me asking why so expensive....manager at Dorignacs, basically said f off, and walked away....Sorry, it's great bourbon, but not that great. $750?

so they received (12) bottles of 15, (15) bottles of 20 and (12) bottles of 23? That seems really , really hard to believe. Most states dont get that kind of allotment.
