Had lunch thier today. They did a great job with this place. Very nicely done with the decor and the open dining area. Bar looks great too. The menu is mainly the same, but it looks like they added some things from what I remember. They had 8 draft handles, all local craft options, no ultra, bmc, etc. they were not maven-approved local options, though. Fairly boring. But still, they get a nod for going that route.

Has always been one of my favorite places in town, and the new spot only solidifies that.

Glad to hear they got it open. How big is the place? I used to go the other one a good bit when I was back in town, Will and his wife are super nice people. Glad they are doing well.

It is across from where Happy's used to be right? Hope it stays open... that street aside from Chimes seems to be a death trap. But the food is excellent.

I bet this place will survive alongside the chimes. I personally like it much better for lunch.

I think its just the right size for what its trying to be. Wide open inside, but with booths and a chest-high partition separating the bar.

I tried to go for lunch today but no parking spots so went to Chimes instead. Went last week and it was awesome, like the old restaurant. Don't you think they can fit more tables in there though?

I agree. Never had a bad meal at Willie's. I hope it does survive, that area needs another good lunch spot without the wait.

Is that place that took over in the old Walk On's still open?

Can you tell me what both mean? I've been seeing them and feel lost like Granpa Munster.

And not to hijack- if I were to visit this new Willies what would one suggest I try?

I cant say because I get something different, but it's all good food. So whatever looks good to you will likely be good.

Sounds like it wouldn't do any good unless they get more parking.

its been packed for lunch everyday since they opened up for it... my office is just up the road and I pass everyday. I will tell you if you want to go you need to be there for 11:30 or there will be a wait. I've been twice and both have been good experiences. I would definitely would do their lunch prior to hitting the chimes though.... frickers having been having the salmon roll sandwich as the "special" for about a year now and they never have any beer that you want. always takes them 15min to come back and tell you "oh we are out of that" okay well i want this.... only to hear the same.

Went for lunch today. It was packed, but the wife got a table before I showed up.

We got the onion rings as an appetizer. They were cooked perfectly (i.e. not soggy) and were seasoned well and served with a remoulade sauce. Would definitely order again.

I got the Saintsation poboy, which was grilled shrimp, sauteed onions and peppers, pepperjack cheese, fried crawfish tails and jalapeno mayo. Shrimp were tasty and cooked just right. Crawfish fried perfectly. Poboy was a bit on the small side for $12, but I filled up on onion rings and the homemade chips on the side, so it's hard to complain.

Wife got the Rooster burger, which had bacon, Swiss, fried egg, lettuce, tomato and avocado on Texas toast. Burger was cooked just a tad more than medium, but still juicy. $10 seemed to be a better value for this than my poboy. She took half home.

All the food was on point and service was friendly and quick. We'll definitely be back.

Were you able to check out the beer selection?

No, I actually didn't. Our seats didn't have a good view of the bar to see what they had, and I was (for once) not having a beer with lunch.

That's my favorite. It's a unique poboy.
