Thinking this may be in the works for tonight.

Have they work out the kinks that plagues almost every new restaurant?

If so, what are the "go-to" dishes there?

I love the shrimp and grits app.

Ditto. Hates a strong word, but disappointing both times on their food.
Capital City Grill much better option for similar food and price.

Sounds like if I stick with a shrimp dish, it will be enjoyable, along with a few cold ones.

Other than that, probably should look elsewhere?

Always a good choice.

I just wanted to give Portico's a chance since I have never been there. Bottom line, I like the location and just really miss Calendar's.

And Kelly.

We had pretty good service when we went (only once) and the patio is a decent place for a few beers but the food was just not good at all.

I haven't warmed up to the place.

If you sit on the patio, you deal with cigarettes.

If you sit at the bar in between the patio and restaurant, it's the equivalent of being in a wind tunnel, and sitting inside is just sort of drab.

The food wasn't enough to keep me coming back, although the mahi sandwich with a side of asparagus is priced moderately.

I went once about a month ago.

Meh is a good description. Didn't really dislike it, but I'll probably never go back.

We went during the summer, but haven't been back since. Really good onion rings, above average hamburger and brisket sandwich, better than average beer selection.

average food mostly but the gumbo & fried/blacked fish is terrific, better than the bland way most restaurants fry fish.

nice atmosphere too

Go try it. I always do. "The place sucks." not until I've dumped a wad do I believe that.

Went this past week. Pulled Pork tacos were tasty but small, onion rings were good, grilled asparagus was great. Hubs had the shrimp app and it was just meh. Daughter had the grilled chicken breast and it was very dry. Service was average. Other places better to eat near by.

It's a North Louisiana based restaurant. What do you expect? Some of you want it to be like Nobu or Reataurant August. It is what it is.
