That kind of response from Tom is how he acted in the various message boards, especially his own.
He would get very defensive and was snarky all the time. He even tried to push other message boards into banning certain people he didn't agree with

As the person stated that you are replying to, the original email was in bad taste. shite just look at the title of this thread. You don't think telling this man after 30 years that is show won't make it would sit well with him?

I agree, LE. Tom has been and continues to be a pillar of society. I laud his accomplishments past and present.

TF's response to your email was spot on. The last statement was snarky and a bit over the top and precisely why he doesn't have a message board any more.

He'll probably survive this challenge too, given his history with the radio show.

I thought TF's show was supposed to no longer be available on 1350. He's on right now and I don't have HD.

There's only like three other message boards besides this one that I've even so much as perused more than 3-4 times.

His was one of those.

Years ago, TF's messageboard was very good with some very good posters. Eventually, it was just a mess with more fighting than substantive food posts. He had to spend more time policing the board than posting on it. His last incarnation just never took off.

What other boards did you or do you read, YA?

I was a bit premature on calling that. He had said it would happen very soon.

ETA: And Gris Gris, there's a board that's takes a dig at TF called "Mr. Lake's Nonpompous New Orleans Food Forum". It's pretty good, but not nearly as active as this one.

Nola.com used to have one, but it was even slower.

I still enjoy the show, but agree that time may have passed him by. I don't know the guy and understand why some may not like how he comes off , but no one should attack TF. The guy bent over backwards post Katrina to get the word out about which restaurants were open, when they intended to re open, etc. He kept it going for a lot of folks and played a huge role in the NOLA food scene's strong comeback. My personal opinion is that he needs a young "foodie" side kick that is tatted up and has crazy hair. TF could be the straight man while the other person is the comedic relief. Would bring a younger perspective into the mix which fits the current NOLA food scene.

I posted on Lake's board when it was nearly brand new. Left, though, because that woman was so obsessed with TF and the food talk wasn't much at the time. She was truly unbelievably obsessed. Of course, TF was pretty obsessed with her, too. They got into arguments on her board and his. It was a TF hatefest over there. In fact, I looked at her board not too long ago. I don't think she even posts much on her own board much anymore, if at all when I looked.

Whatever happened to Crabby?

I enjoyed that board. Gumbo Lover and BRFoodie were pretty good. Can't remember the NO attorney. And bat shite Hattyn.

Jim Z is a really good poster on that board. He's kinda like our MeridianDog - posts things he cooks with pictures. He does a lot of baking and sausage-making. Aboy posts a lot, too. Chef Airline used to post frequently. He was the owner of Kid Creole on Airline in front of Tuesday Morning. I think I've even seen Cajunate post on there in the past.

Crabby is fine. We email multiple times a week.

I've seen bam bam reporting on big criminal cases. He sure didn't like TF.

Aboy needed a place like that now that Lake doesn't post about TF day in and out.

What a great show today. I like how he dedicated the final hour as a tribute to the station.
