What does this board think about Texas Star Beef?

Hit and miss, bought a pile of ribeyes to cook for a family gathering and they were better than expected, have had some cuts that belonged in an alpo can.

IMHO for a bunch of cheap steaks they fit the bill, just know what you are getting, every store has similar meat at the price point.

I bought some of the thin cut TSB strips. The quality was subpar. Best used for a steak and egg breakfast. Throw them on an iron skillet and cook medium rare.

I bought some butt tenderloins last year. The meat smelled rotten and I threw it away. Never again.

I went to rouses yesterday to get some shrimp and continued to be disappointed in the steak selection.

They aren't usda graded, but definitely sub-choice. The marbling on the steaks hardly even looks select.

It very well may be. I have never bought it before and am hankering for a decent steak tonight. I need to find a new butcher around the Denham area.

Sam's has choice meat in Denham that is pretty good

I forgot about them. I used to get a lot of meat from there. Only complaint, they pack their steaks 3 to a pack. Not that it matters all that much.

Yep, and it is priced accordingly.

Not sure why anyone would expect more and every grocery store in the USA sells something comparable.

Want a couple decent steaks- get the butcher to cut a few.

Serving 50 ribeyes for free on chinet plates- TSB here we come.
