Tal's Hummus

The latest Magazine St mediterranean joint is Tal's Hummus (directly across the street from the Bon Temps Roule). Went last weekend, and was pleasantly surprised by the quality: obviously fresh, fluffy pita, warm hummus, nice pickles & pepper vinegar, a condiments bar w/mango chutney, olives, etc. Tried a beef kebab (v good) and even the watermelon lemonade was tasty. It's a bright spot & open 11-10 every day. A big thumbs up to Tal's. LINK

To be honest, I didn't pay the tab, so I wasn't really looking at prices.

I haven't been yet, but my parents went and said it was terrible.
Dad is from Lebanon, mom has grandparents from Syria and Lebanon, so I trust their opinion.
Said the bread they gave them was store bought Naan bread, not fresh baked like shaya. My mom some kind of vegetarian sampler and they didn't give her bread with it, said it was extra. Said everything looked OK, but nothing tasted good. No flavor.
They think shaya is great. They like Lebanon's as far as other local options.

Went after a few weeks of being opened, and I might go back again to give it one more shot. The food wasn't that good (beef kebab and hummus), and it was definitely overpriced. The hummus was $8 and was extremely bland. Service took forever. Took 25 minutes for a plate of hummus.
