...open all day Sat or Sun because we would be hitting it up mid afternoon. All of those good places on Prytania seem to close mid day and/or not open on Sundays. I've been to Commanders multiple times, but this doesn't warrant any fine dining because we'll be strolling about in clothes appropriate for 100 degree heat index so nothing fancy. I'd love a local's suggestion. Would perhaps return to La Thai for instance but they have weird hours.

Good suggestion although usually in my rotation anyway. I stay at the large hotel area by Canal so it's within walking distance. I'm looking for something out on the trolley line that I might otherwise miss.

Depending on comfort walking off the line (distance) you have a lot of options considering the line goes all way to Carrollton/Claiborne, it opens up Magazine, riverbed, and Oak Street. Boucherie (sat only), Coquette (check hours), La Petite Grocery, Shaya, and Lilette (sat only, would top my list. Avenue Pub (if okay with pub food), Guys poboys, Parasols poboys, Cooter Browns bar, Superior Seafood, Joey Ks (neighborhood joint), Baru Tapas, Magasin are other options. Check hours, some of these close between lunch and dinner service.

Edit: removed some that are only open for dinner

Right on the streetcar line, Camellia Grill and Willie Mae's Deli. Willie Mae's is closed on Sunday.

St James Cheese is open from 11am-4pm on Sunday. One of my favorite lunch spots.
