Ok so my issue was that they cooked it so long that bottom of the corned beef became, no so much burnt but crispy to the punt of being crunchy and hard.

Is that a thing they do? Or did they frick up my sandwich. FWIW I was wearing a Cubs hat and they gave me a "Go White Sox" on the way out.

While a solid Rueben thread is going, any NOLA suggestions?

So a question for all the downvoters...I can make spaghetti and meatballs with alfredo sauce, add strips of chicken breast and call it a gumbo?
what point are you trying to make

A reuben has so many variations man. You can do corned beef or pastrami. Thousand island or spicy mustard. Swiss or anything else. Rye bread or not. Its the sauerkraut that makes it official.

And if you want to rename spaghetti, gumbo, by all means man.

Reuben's reuben is very good. Better be if you are going to name your restaurant after it. It is owned by the same people who own The Store, which incidentally is another good sandwich spot (but does not have a reuben). Reuben's is on Gravier Street around Baronne.

I upvoted this post. Not because I agree. But it was funny.

As an aside, Arby's has a pretty good Reuben.

Odd you mentioned this, and of course the answer to your question is no.

But if you can make a gumbo out of chicken, turkey, seafood, and it is still a gumbo, how is turkey on a reuben out of bounds.

Or a burger out of turkey in stead of beef.

I like a regular ol reuben, but there is a turkey reuben in town I love too, I just cant remember where it is! I think spirits.
