That is actually a damn good question. For some reason Fruit Cocktail popped into my head. Eat the fruit and drink the juice to survive? I guess that would work with Tuna in water too though.

Canned water.

You'll die much quicker from dehydration than starvation. Water helps you survive until you can figure out how to catch fish and the like.

I'm making the assumption that fresh water is available. Maybe an incorrect assumption, but it makes the decision more fun.

I'll find a really shady place for storage. Going to need booze at some point.

The easy open top on that Chef Boyardee just made me think of the fact that no one mentioned a can opener. That sounds like one of those genie jokes:

"Here is your unlimited supply of food in cans but there isn't even a rock on this island so you can't get into the can."

assuming fresh water is available sardines is the correct answer in order to ensure survival
they can also be used as bait to catch fresh fish
