Storing store bought chicken.

Purchased some boneless skinless chicken breasts from the store on Saturday with a sell by date of 2/2. Do I have to cook these tonight or will they last until tomorrow? Seems most people say 1-2 after purchase.

I would think they would be safe until the sell by date. Heck, maybe even a day or so after the sell by date could be OK. Isn't a fridge colder than the open meat racks in grocery stores? I've bought meat and kept it in the fridge for about a week or so before cooking it.

They should last until 2/2 if refrigerated.

Seriously, go by the date on the package. That's why it is printed on it.

does the grocery store have a better fridge than yours? I would think if they'll go till 2/2 in thier fridge deal then it should in yours.

Smell test it. I usually go several days past "sell by" on whole meat. Ground meat is different.

Am I missing something? Sell by date is 2/2...a week away...and you are worried it will go bad in your fridge over the next couple of days?
