For the third summer I am going to the quarter for 4 days mainly to eat at selected restaurants but also to do a little drinking, tour the quarter, and listen to some good music. My restaurant iternary for this trip is: Johnny's Poboys, Deanies, Irene's Cuisine, Cafe Dumonde( late snack), Bon Ton Cafe, Cafe Giovanni, Galatoires, Commanders Palace, and last a muff to go from either Central Grocery or Napoleon House. I might do Napoleon House since I have had Central Grocery muffs many times. Plan is to have two meals per day, no breakfast, so hopefully no weight gain. Last year I was afraid of gaining weight. I guess from walking around the quarter a lot I actually lost seven pounds. It's going to be fun....can't wait.

Muff to go.

Sounds like a great time though seriously. I've lived around here for years and still haven't hit half of those.

You should go to Frenchman St for the bars.

Also for late night snack, Verti Marte, and Coop's Place

Commanders isn't in the quarter

If you are a serious foodie then you should go to Arnauds for brunch, pelican club, mr bs, Muriel's, Stella, bayona, broussards, or palace cafe

This. Go eat at Three Muses early one evening.
Get out of the quarter one day and wonder around the Warehouse District and take a street car down St. Charles. Have drinks at the Columns.

Take a stroll down Magazine St uptown too.

There are better restaurants in other parts of the city and you should explore and not just be a typical tourist.

One, several of those restaurants are not in the Quarter.

Two, yeah, there are better restaurants outside of the Quarter.

Broaden your scope. The whole city is a ten minute drive away practically.

Yeah I know some are not in the quarter. I am taking a cab to Commanders. After reading all of these great replys I may make some revisions but I can't cover all of the great restaurants in one vacation. I went to some good restaurants mentioned the last two years. I certainly plan to make this a yearly event and visit some of those suggested. My plans do include the streetcar ride and other parts of town. My hotel is based in the quarter. Last year I took the Canal streetcar ride. This time will be the St. Charles streetcar and maybe Magazine St.

for an fantastic, all meat extraveganza, try cochon....donald link (herbsaint, another great restaurant)with delicious, imaginative charcutaurie.

I'll be there for 5 days later this month and plan a similar (though not as expensive) experience.

Def replace Deanies with another option. And hit a good jazz brunch while you are in town. I like Cafe Atchafalaya
