Shoe Sole pastry recipe

Anyone ever heard of this? Talking to a friend who said he used to get them from a bakery in Lutcher/Gramercy area. Said it was something like phyllo dough with caramalized sugar and pecans. Called them shoe soles, but said it could go by another name.
