I hadn't been there in 15 years...but a three-course meal for under $21 is a good deal...and the food was good.
The August $20.15 three course (plus amuse) Friday lunch is a much better deal and fun fact - August has no corkage fee (WINO is 2.5 blocks away)

Oceana Grill on Conti
People shite on it...constantly, but their chargrilled oysters were outstanding the last time I went.
I have no idea what the food it like there, but having seen the video on the Gordon Ramsey show, I could not eat there. I couldn't even keep watching the video because it was so nasty. It may be clean as a whistle now, but those visions are stamped into my head.
Degas, you could stop in at Arnaud's Remoulade for some Oysters Arnaud and a few other treats that are the same as in the restaurant, but in a casual setting.
Same with Antoine's Hermes Bar for a poboy or some other treats, plus libations, of course.
I don't see Antoine's Annex mentioned much, but it's convenient for a breakfast croissant. I like the caprese panini a lot. Should be especially good during tomato season.
K-Paul's is a good option and I recommend Emeril's, among some of the other suggestions you've gotten.

Irene's.
Yep....
Also:
EAT
Hermes Bar
GW Fins (can always sit at the bar if reservation isn't available)
Meauxbar is tops in the French Quarter. The menu is always changing, which keeps it interesting. It might be less casual than you want.
Paladar 511 is new and worth a visit. They are just on the other side of Elysian Fields.
Cane and table continues to please with frequent menu updates.

Lester, I had the Oysters Bienville, followed by Roasted Chicken, and bread pudding. It was Saturday around 11:45am so place was relatively dead, but started to pick up as we finished.

When GG first opened, we ordered the four course chefs recommendations paired with wines/beverages. He paired an appetizer with carbonated Sake; first I'd ever heard of Sparkling Sake, but it complimented the meal.
OP should know Verdi Marte is a tiny deli; get in and get out. when it's 2 am and you need to sober up, take back a po boy to hotel room. They are open all night.
Italian Barrel or Irene's for supper.
Rib room for breakfast the filet omelet is to die for and their bloody mary is the best in the quarter. get there before the sunday brunch starts.
