I'm down there a few times a year for work, but usually alone. Think the better half is going with me this trip. Need dinner spots for Thursday night and Friday night. I've done Olde Pink House, Vics, and the Chart House before. Would prefer something different from those (not that they were bad). Type of food doesn't matter, just nowhere with a formal dress code as we will probably walk or be walking a good bit afterwards.
Have my eye on Alligator Soul and Cotton Exchange as possible contenders but don't know much about either.
Any other bar, live music, things to do info appreciated. There Thurs-Sat, staying on River St.

If you go to Tybee check this place out for drinks and appetizers.
80 East Gastropub
This is the hottest and most talk about restaurant in town right now.

If you enjoy craft beer The Distillery and Crystal beer parlor are my favorite spots. Both have good bar fare as well.
The rooftop bar at Rocks on the river is a great place to have drinks and enjoy the view of the river. Also a competing roof top bar at the hotel next door.

Definitly check out the Grey if you can. I haven't been yet but it is getting lots of national press. Top five new restaurant of the year etc.

I will be there also, going to Bayou Cafe. They say the music and food are really good.

Sorry Charlie's is clutch and in a great location.
+ 1 on 80 East in Tybee it's a cool little restaurant in shitty building attached to a bodega.

Top Deck. Love this place. It's a bit hipster, but watching the sun go down under the bridge while a giant ship goes by is cool.
Echo Crystal Beer Parlor. Get the open faced meatloaf sandwich if you want to be a pig. haha!
Mouton's other recs are solid.
Another place that I hear is good is The Florence, a Hugh Acheson restaurant.
Garibaldis has a nice Italian menu as well. I enjoyed it.
Bella's is good less expensive Italian in midtown.
Toucan, also in midtown has great food and is very reasonably priced.
If you like Thai, King and I is as good as I've ever had.
I also like Local 11 Ten. Pricey though.
Colleague says 45 Bistro is very good.
Bayou Cafe' is a great place for late night blues. It's a tiny divey looking place, but it's on River Street, so your wife would feel safe.
Moon River has a great outdoor beer garden and you can sample their in house produced beers.
Green Truck Pub has some of the best burgers in town. Everything there really is local. They even list their suppliers.
Jazz'd is a pretty cool place. Jazz (duh) and tapas.
If you go out to Wilmington, hit up Cocoa's Dessert and Martini Bar. It's like going to someone's living room, but they have great martini's, traditional and other. The Reese's and Red Velvet cake are amazing. 2 of them puts me out though, so be careful.
It sounds hokey, but I have a good time at Savannah Smiles (dueling piano bar), but I can see that not everyone would like it.
I will try to think of more things.
I'm likely somewhat free on Saturday night if you want to meet for a beer or drink.

Much appreciated. Right now the plan is to fly out Saturday but that is kinda up in the air. If not I'll be down for that beer.

Sounds good.
I'd actually be up for it Thursday or Friday too. My daughter is in town, but I can get away for a beer on the way home from work or late night.
edit: not being creepy.

Tigertown never wants to have a beer with me.

Let's do it! We should meet at Distillery sometime. I haven't been and I know you like it.

I will know when I am heading downtown again. I usually close down the office and sneak don there once a week.

Another cool place for a drink is Treylor Park on Bay st. Cool décor, really good drinks and a nice beer garden in the back. I have only had drinks there but they have unique bar food like peanut butter and jelly wings and fried pickled banana pepper rings.

Looking at my schedule I will probably be heading downtown on Thursday a little after lunch.

How late do you stay there? Unless it's rainy, I will likely go for a bike ride after work.

Usually only to about six or so. My wife is off on Friday though so we might do something that night.
