I am going to be buying a press and a grinder and wondered if anyone has any recs? LEM seems to have a pretty popular 5LB sausage press as does Weston. Anyone used a few presses and grinders and have an opinion.

LEM make great grinders, Cabelas and Bass Pro does too. If your going to skimp skimp on the grinder and get a good sausage stuffer, works 10xs better than stuffing it with the grinder. Id also look into getting a mixer. They really work well to get all the pork/venison/seasoning mixed well.

2nd the above. My small cabelas grinder does the job of grinding well, stuffing not so much. We did 100 lbs with it one time. Took for ever. Have a stuffer now and its great. Grinding and stuffing about 200lbs tonight. Will smoke tomorrow night.

You dont need a huge one, if its a hobby get a basic entry level one. Remember..... the worst stuffer will work better that a grinder with a stuffer attachement.

There's really no use going bigger than that. The casing are only so long, when you have to reload the casing, reload the stuffer.

I got a LEM 5lb stainless steel stuffer. Nice size and easy to store. Got the stuffer and Waring Pro meat grinder from Amazon.

You can use an old fashioned lard press and a broom handle as a stuffer.
Works great.
