Newly opened this week. Just got back from lunch there. Located old Calandar's location on Perkins. Poor location with not much visabilty but sushi was great. Much better quality than Ichiban and Sushi Masa, won't break the bank like Sushi Yama.

I also went for lunch today. Both rolls I had were excellent. Didn't skimp on the raw fish at all. Had the tuna avacado and spicy white tuna. You must have been the other person in there lol. Place was dead, hope they know what there doing. Opening a generic sushi place within a stones throw from 3 others in that location seems fatal. I'll be back assuming there still open.

Yeah, I kinda felt bad for them that no one was there while the service and food was much better than I anticipated. I asked and the waitress said that the owner came down from New York. I told them that I would help spread the word...so here I am

Good luck in that location. Now I get why owners keep trying to make that location work...they can't possibly be from here or in the restaurant scene in BR. They would absolutely know that place cannot be revived.

Do you think its simply the location? I liked Calendars and Marcellos. They were not spectacular but were good for a quick lunch if you work in the area.

I do think a restaurant can overcome a bad location but it's definitely an uphill battle.
But this location isn't just bad, it's horrible. I think business owners underestimate how much accessibility impacts decisions. In the case of Sake Sushi -
1) The easiest access is from Perkins Road Eastbound. However, Perkins is 4 lanes and you're located fairly close to a major light, so making a left hand turn back onto Perkins to go back to where you came from is a pain, to say the least.
2) There's 3 different ways you can be heading Westbound on Perkins - and all of them suck for turning into your parking lot. If you're coming off Essen Southbound it's hard to get over in time (and you have to quickly cut across 2 lanes of traffic to return to where you came from).
3) If you're coming from Staring Northbound or Perkins Westbound it's easy enough to get in the correct lane, but there isn't much of a suicide lane yet to make the turn into the parking lot. The suicide lane doesn't really get fully established until you're near Rum House/Olive or Twist
4) The area isn't all that walkable and there's no sidewalk along Perkins, so that would distract even the apartment dwellers in the area.
All told, the place is only truly convenient if you're heading Eastbound on Perkins Road and continuing to head East once you leave.

That's good to know. I love sushi but hate getting robbed by Sushi Yama. Will check it out.

I agree. Sushi was very fresh and the rolls were large.
