Some random drunks sit down at the table when I'm taking my girl out to a nice dinner wouldn't last very long, whether the restaurant takes care of it or I have to.

Insert the watchoutwegotabadass meme here.

The whole story is rather peculiar, though.

No clue. Especially at a nice restaurant. Not only are you paying for the food, you are paying for a nice dining atmosphere.

I would have dealt with that in a firm but polite manner. If that didn't work, I would have asked to be moved to a different table and explained why - even on a night as busy as Valentines Day.

Probably right. He at least deserves a TD shirt for people calling him out

All I'll say is they did not even order food and spent approximately 40% of the time at our table

I hope we get more details on this. Is it out of the question that they knew the drunk couple?

Now I'm craving that spicy lobster appetizer. So good.

That's basically what happened. After a few minutes of them trying to talk to us from their table (the tables were pretty close) they decided to sit at the two empty chairs at our table. Hats off to the waiter. He did what appeared to be the best he could to lighten the situation. The letter stated that this was not the type of experience we've come to expect from Ruth's Chris. They showed great generosity.

Then how would that have basically ruined the dinner? We would have most likely laughed the whole time had we knew the couple. It was still rather humorous for about five minutes until it carried on for the rest of the night. It became not funny fairly quick.

That's pretty unusual man. It's why I wanted to know more about it.

It was the strangest thing I've personally ever experienced in a restaurant. I was ok with just the bottle of wine. Ruth's went above and beyond so to speak.

I'm so confused. These people sat at your table and you didn't want them there nor did you know them. Did you ask them to leave?

So, then Ruth's gives you a bottle of wine and you still wrote a letter to the restaurant after that? What did Ruth's have to do with the experience unless you asked Ruth's to remove the people and they didn't?

I would have written a letter thanking Ruth's for the bottle of wine and for the waiter's actions in trying "to lighten the situation" if I was going to write a letter.

I must be missing something because this is strange.

yea, I don't see a need to write the letter after you received a comped bottle of wine already.
