Took MsStexas to dinner last night at the Laffy Ruth's and was miserably disappointed. While we don't frequent the place, we usually make one or two trips a year.

It was packed with Mardi Gras Ball goers doing shooters at their tables. The booth they seated us in was set for 6 (we had reservations for 2) and they didn't clear the other settings until I asked them to. They changed the menu so that there are no longer chef specials and changed the sautéed mushrooms to a simpler thyme wine reduction instead of the garlic recipe they used to have. My filet was cooked to order but the cut of meat was poor, lacking in flavor that reminded me of roast beef instead of steak. I was very disappointed and will be hard pressed to return for Ruth's Chris prices and a less than Outback quality meal. I've always thought the Baton Rouge location was superior to the Lafeyette, but the atmosphere almost made up for it...

The one in New Orleans is hands down the best that I've been to .. The rest have been average at best --- not sure what it is but the Ruth's in New Orleans puts out the best steak in the city while the others are just meh

The horror that you had extra place settings. How ever did you survive?

BTW, I have said that place is overrated and 8/10 times my filet is over cooked.

Also, what was the managers reaction? Seems like legitimate stuff he could have fixed or at least helped explain to you.

He should have come to my house last night and had a ribeye. Our TV trays only have room for one setting. Sure we are a little rough around the edges but we are good people.

I never spoke to the manager, the server handled the issues that we brought up to him with class and respect, at the time I assumed it was just us, but the more I've thought about it the more I'm disappointed.

Probably would have enjoyed the food and colorful atmosphere, but we were more in the mood for Duckhorn than Boone's farm...

What cut off meat was it?

Also, if you aren't satisfied with am experience always talk with the manager. Doesn't only apply to restaurants.

I enjoy the one in metairie too. The one downtown has a nice atmosphere.

You should have focused on you and your wife's happiness instead of the details of place settings and other people. You're responsible for your mood and your wife deserves your focus without it being drawn by meaningless details. Just my opinion though.

In all honesty I'm too big of an ole puss and dislike confrontation so I rarely do much other than bitch about it on internet forums where I can talk shite without worrying about the recourse.

Never been to the BR location as I try never enter that city .. The Ruth's downtown puts out a far better product than the Metairie and Lafayette locations (although it's been years since I have been to the Lafayette location).

Wise words. I did enjoy her company, we've been together for 20+ years through college and married for 13...
