Oh dear god yes. Don't need folks from Kennerbrah and the Wank invading Magazine St to get a look at OT 4's in halter tops. That what Happys is for.

I really thought RumHouse would calm down to, but according to my friend that works there, it is way more popular than ever.

It ain't slowing down.

All I can say is the more people that come there, maybe more restaurants will continue to open in the area.

Good god man, how many more restaurants does Magazine St. need?

Why? Do you know what butt hurt means? Because that's pretty much the definition.

I appreciate restaurants that try.

Conversely, if a "lazy" restaurant is rewarded with Insane business, that style of restaurant is incentivized to invest in my area.

No shite, I can't keep up with all these places. McClures should be opening this week too.

It is sort of a silly notion that, if every restaurant is not some sort of foodie paradise that it should be deemed "sad."

I've been to the place twice. It's not a place that I would wait for an hour with a throng of college kids to get in, but I thought the tacos I had both times were decent enough -- and thought they were priced comparably to any other similarly situated establishment. Drinks are a little goofy.

I certainly don't begrudge those guys doing what they're doing at all, though.

It's not personal.

I attempted to further explain my thought in my previous post. I don't wish failure on Rum House, but I don't like certain styles of restaurants becoming so successful that they spawn similar ones.

Good for Michael and Kelly ... two local guys that opened a popular place with decent food and drinks. I live right down the street and bring out of towners in all the time and they love it. Is it worth an hour wait probably not. But to bash these guys for busting arse, risking a good deal of money and ultimately being very successful is stupid. Save the degradation for Charcoals and Ignatius ... they deserve it. The only thing i wish for Rum House BR is that it would open where Serrano's is.

Doesn't really seem to be happening in NO.

If anything, I'd argue, they're just filling a niche.

What?

You bring out of towners to the Rum House???

No wonder Houston was just named most dynamic. People are starting to think the Rum House is our new benchmark...

Rum House makes NOLA more dynamic. How many tiki bar Caribbean taco joints does NOLA have ?

Edit: When you think NOLA now you now think of Creole Caribbean Cajun food.

When we go to New Orleans we usually go and grab a drink at Rum House. I love their Pina Coladas and my husband likes the Fish Bowl. We've eaten the food once and it was ok. Nothing crazy good but I'll tell you sitting at the bar seeing the food come out everything looks great then...lol. The last time we went in they told us they were going to open a location in BR and I'm happy for them. We will go and support them and I think it will do great here.

Rum House is the greatest mystery of NOLA. IMO

It's a mystery to you because there's a delta between what you think most people in New Orleans value and reality.

I dont see what the big fuss is about

Rum House always has people in it
They have a good/fun atmosphere
Its an easy place to go and grab a bite and drinks

Fixed it.

ETA: I think you mean gulf, not delta. FYI

Yes, I choose to live in NOLA and I expect more from it then BR. The Rum House is a BR level restaurant.

To the other poster claiming its an easy place to get food and drinks. Your assumption is it's the only place like that. That couldn't be further from the truth. I wish people would seek out good restaurants. They would learn there are plenty of places that do good food and drinks at the same price point as Rum House.

I merely suggest that the Rum House is a bad value and people should look around for their food options.
