I've made my own rub for years, and never found the right mix for good pork ribs on the smoker.

Let's hear your go-to rubs.

chili powder
brown sugar
paprika
kosher salt
black pepper
garlic powder
onion powder
garlic pepper
cumin
cayenne pepper

spread a little yellow mustard on them, then apply the rub.

no idea on specific measurements. i vary it each time. i use this for ribs, pork butts, burgers, and even on chicken.

The ginger & rosemary in this recipe make it different. It's very good on chicken & pork.

Try it, you'll like it.

3/4 cup dark brown sugar
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup paprika (or smoked paprika)
1/2 cup kosher salt
1/4 cup garlic powder
2 tablespoons ground black pepper
2 tablespoons ground ginger powder
2 tablespoons onion powder
1 teaspoon red pepper
2 teaspoons rosemary powder

Is it strange that I don't like a lot of rub on my ribs?

I like more rub on my butts or brisket because there's more meat, but for some reason I like my ribs to not have as much.

My recipe is about the same as yours except I use less salt for dietary reasons.
