Is the space just outrageously expensive or something? That spot is slowly becoming the building across from Mike Anderson's.

Never went to the place, but the menu (I just wanted to look it up to see where y'all were talking about) makes it look like just another in the long line of Sysco middlemen, that people inexplicitly think is the number one way to succeed in the restaurant business in BR.

Maybe - hopefully - such a notion is slowly falling by the wayside there.

Didn't the new sign say Ice House? Wasn't that the place that was supposed to go upstairs on Chimes st?

Anyone been to the new Mexican restaurant now in the old Portobello's across from Mike Anderson's?

CalienteMexicanCraving.com

I've been watching a lot of that show "Bar Rescue" on Spike, and when I drove by this new place the other day, I immediately thought it looks like they followed the rules that Jon Taffer uses (just from apparent theme, sign)

Caliente is gross. The one in Central has been around for years and it's always been horrible. I have no idea how they were able to open another.

Only reasoning I can think of is that Central people are so gung-ho on eating in Central that they eat there anyway..

Went there after the first lsu homegame

only 2 waiters working the entire front of house

I knew they wouldn't make it, then. Altho their demise was a bit quicker than I expected

Same. I always figured it wouldn't last long, but I didn't think it would be THAT short.

I was trying to find something to eat around my house last night and pulled up the menu for this place (had no idea it was closed), but the menu bored me. Same plain type of stuff you get at other bars.

Well my neighbor is the manager of the Baton Rouge branch of Sysco, New Orleans and I just read him your post to which he replied "the Harahan location does three times the volume of the BR location in metropolitan NO alone and the Lafayette location does the same as BR dollar wise."

Sysco digs deep wherever they are and New Orleans is not immune. I've driven around many Sysco trucks in the early mornings around the Warehouse District, Magazine, St Charles and the Quarter. Don't fool yourself.
