Rice flour in Baton Rouge?

Anyone know where I can buy rice flour in BR? I've got a buddy that can't eat wheat products and I'm going to try to make a decent rice flour roux for a gumbo.

Whole Foods will definitely have it. Calandros and Maxwells would also be in the list I would think.

Figured Whole Foods would, but wanted verification before setting foot in the place. Guess I can pick up a few lbs of quinoa while I'm there. Thanks!

Someone might be able to chime in with a better option for gluten free flour that makes a ticket, more flavorful roux. Im pretty sure I've heard rice flour is kinda blah.

The flour in a roux is not going to be a big flavor factor in the end. It is the cooking of the roux, and the trinity in it, that is what is making for the flavor.

If I remember correctly when we first started trying to use just rice flour it just didn't mix or brown well. We ended up using a blend of a few different flours that works well enough you'd never know. Google what works well first, I know I've seen stuff about what people use. We screwed up at least 3-4 rouxs experimenting. I will see if I can find ours.

Garfava flour 2/3 part, sorghum flour 1/3 part, cornstarch 1 part, tapioca flour 1 part
Here it is. It's a bean flour mix that work well. May have to make more than a cup or to make the proportions easier but you can always keep it in the fridge and use it again later anyway or give it to your buddy. Should be able to get it all at whole foods. It will brown and mix just like a regular roux.

Just used millet flour over the holidays. We went gluten free because of our daughter. Browned really well and gumbo came out fantastic.
